It is a beautiful morning down here in southwest Florida. The sun is warm, the air is cool, the wind is calm, and the birds are out in force. I took a rare Saturday walk because I miss a couple of day due to the cold temperatures and wind. The park is very busy. There is a cancer walk/run this morning.
The bird of the day was the Red-shouldered Hawk. I saw 2 on the way into the park, and 3 more inside. The Cardinal was singing at the entrance to the park. It looks like the pelicans may nest in the park this season.
I know I've said it before, but I still think this is best place to get up close to wading birds. I was within 2ft. of the Tricolor Heron when I walked past him. I took the photo from about 4ft away.

I esp love the tri-colored heron photo; how nice that you could get so close! I've never seen a cardinal before, sure hope I get to this year. Nice post, thank you for sharing. I also hope to visit Lakes Park.
