It was a spectacular morning on the lake. We did our first rookery count of the year this morning. The Great Blues are the only ones building nest in the rookery. We counted 3 active and 1 in progress. The Ibis fly-out took place at 7:05AM over 250 (1000's over all) birds flew directly over our canoe heading southeast. If you have never seen a fly-out event you should visit the park just before sunrise, stand at the marina, and marvel...

Here is a summary of the rookery count:
Anhinga - 56
Cormorants - 288
Great Blues - 14
Tri-color - 4
Glossy Ibis - 40
White Ibis - 250+
Cattle Egrets - 137
Black Crown Night Heron - 1

Fabulous! Thanks for sharing the early morning count (I don't even usually get out into my backyard that early, so Appreciate very much what you did!) (We did watch an evening flyover of cranes and snowgeese one Autumn in New Mexico -- it was one of the jmost amazing experiences of my life.)
